In A Time of Change by Gilliane Devine 2005 p16 there is a table taken from the 1838 tithe map stating a John Baker occupied Homestall stated to be Parkhurst Farm, now known as Quinettes, High Field, Pond Field Sawpit Field and Shop Field (all arable) as well as a cottage and garden identified as the Crossways public house, a total of about 22 acres. In the 1841 census his address is only given as Lower Churt, but is the third address from Squirrels House and three address from Crossways. On p25 it states John Baker owned 79 acres including Hale Hose Farm, now Quinettes formerly Parhurst Farm (there is some confusion as today Hale House Farm is next to Squirrels), was one of the biggest households in Churt, and was one of the churchwardens between 1838 and 1850. On p45 discussing the enclosure of Frensham in 1857 it states that the Bakers had sold most of their land and hence did not benefit from the enclosure as the manorial waste was only allocated to land owners. On p50 John and James Baker were tennants at Stock Farm (previously Churt Farm) owned by Richard Paine and were given notice to quit on its sale by the trustees.
