In Exploring Surrey Past Congregational Chapel, Shamley Green Deeds 1887 – 1899 there is a letter dated 9 December 1899 from Smallpeice and Co, solicitors, to Messrs Capron and Sparkes, solicitors, concerning enfranchisement of the chapel land, with a note relating to site for new chapel, part of Hughes Farm granted by M M Baker, the old chapel to be abandoned, and a deed of enfranchisement dated 30 December 1899 for the manor of Shalford Bradestan (1) The Rt Hon William Hillier, Earl of Onslow (2) Maurice Moorey Baker of Shamley Green, provision merchant Premises:- Triangular piece of land attached to chapel ground. Consideration £2 10s Recites admittance of (2) on 11 Apr 1899 With plan, two Abstracts of title of Maurice Moorey Baker to copyhold land in Shamley Green. In the 1901 census as Maurice M Baker aged 48, born in Chuct, Surrey, a grocer and draper (looks more like draper than baker) and an employer, and living with his wife (Margaret A), two daughters (Edith M and Sawrie), three servants (Albert Browley aged 23 and born in Guildford, Benjamin Browley aged 19 and born in Compton, Surrey, and Alfred Streatfield aged 19 and born in East Grinstead, Surrey, all single and drapers (could be grocer's) assistants) and a domestic servant (Kate Hughes aged 16 and born in Shamley Green) at Surrey House, Shamley Green, Wonersh, Surrey. Three sons (Herbert, Maili C and Renald) were living living with his sister (Ellen Baker), at 9 Connaught Road, Littlehampton, Sussex.
His wife died in 1908.

In Bakers of Headley it states John’s thirteenth child, Maurice Moorey, was born on 14 September 1852. He married twice: first, Margaret Ann Hayward on 5 October 1880. The following year they were living at Shamley Green, where Maurice was the “grocer & baker”; his sister Ellen was with them. They had five children: Maurice Moorey in 1888, Herbert in 1890, Reginald in 1892, Laurie and Edith Mabel, dates unknown. In 1909 he married Nellie Lampard.
Susan F Belsey has an entry for Maurice Moorey Baker, born on 14 September 1852, parents John Baker and Mary Moorey, his marriage to Margaret Ann Hayward on 5 October 1880 and to Nellie Lampard in 1909, his children and his death on 21 May 1921.
Maurice Moorey Baker was my half first cousin three times removed.
