In the 1891 census as Maurice Baker aged 2, born in Shamley Green, and living with his parents (Maurice M and Margaret A), brother (Herbert), two sisters (Edith and Laurie), two aunts (Ellen and Kate A Baker), two servants (Horace Humphrey aged 20 and Welshey Humphrey aged 16, both born in Cowfold, Sussex, single and grocer's assistants) and a general servant (Kate Upfold aged 16 and born in Shamley Green) at Surrey House, Shamley Green, Wonersh, Surrey.

In the 1901 census as Maili C (sic - in the index, correct on the original) Baker aged 12, born in Shamley Green, Surrey, and living with his aunt (Ellen Baker), and two brothers (Herbert and Renald) at 9 Connaught Road, Littlehampton, Sussex, UK.

His wife was a Tamil, and . He was a civil engineer who had won the top Professor's prize in engineering from King's College, London University in 1908 at age 20. He went to Malaya to work and married an illiterate Tamil woman. They conversed in Malay, a language they were both fluent in. His son was born in Alor Star, Kedah, Malaysia in 1920. They lived in Cameron Highlands, and later moved to Mengtakab, Pahang.

Bakers of Headley states Maurice Moorey Baker was a son of Maurice Moorey Baker and Margaret Ann Hayward, born in 1888.

Susan F Belsey has an entry for Maurice Moorey Baker, born on 7 September 1888, son of Maurice Moorey Baker and Margaret Ann Hayward, his marriage to ? Letchumi in about 1918, his two children, his wife's death in 1953, and his death in September 1969.
