In the 1841 census as Maria Baker aged 6, born in Surrey, and living with John and Maria (parents?), John, Joseph and Stephen (brothers?), Angelina, Ellen, Emily and Priscilla (sisters?) in Lower Churt, Farnham, Surrey.

In the 1851 census as Maria Baker aged 15, born in Frensham, Surrey, employed as an apprentice dressmaker, and living with her parents (John and Mary), four brothers (Albert, Joseph, Seller and Stephen), six sisters (Clara, Ellen, Emley, Kate A, Matilda and Priscille), a visitor (Angelina Mary aged 19, and born in Richmond, Surrey) and a servant (George Glaysher aged 22, born in Headley, single and employed as an agricultural labourer) in Lower Churt, Frensham, Surrey.

In the 1861 census as Maria Marden aged 25, born in Frensham and living with her her husband (George) and daughter (Elleven) at The Lion, Shottermill, Frensham, Surrey.

The family moved from Frensham to Thursley about 1870 from the births of Matilda and Leonard.

In the 1871 census as Maria Marden aged 35, born in Frensham, Surrey, and living with her husband (George), two sons (George and Leonard), four daughters (Agnes, Ellen, Kate and Matilda M), and a domestic servant (Jane Keen aged 16 and born in Thursley) at Hammer Pond, Thursley, Elstead, Witley, Surrey. This was the Half Moon public house on the north side of the A3 between Thursley and Milford near the old silk mill.

In the 1881 census as Maria Marden aged 44, born in Frensham, Surrey, and living with her husband (George), four sons(F. George, George Tyndale, Leonard and William), and four daughters (Ellwen, Kate, Mary and Matilda M) at West Marden, Up Marden, Sussex.

In the 1891 census as Maria Marden aged 53, born in Farnham, Surrey, and living with her husband (George), and three Sons (Frederick G, James T and William) at the Blue Ship Inn, Rudgwick, Sussex.

In the 1901 census as Maria Marden aged 64, born in Frensham, Surrey, and living with hwer husband (George) and three sons (Fredk G, James P and William) at the Blue Ship Beer House, Rudgwick, Sussex. William was married, but his wife and son were living with her parents at 74 Becket Road, West Tarring, Sussex.

Death of Maria Marden in FreeBMD in January-March 1903 aged 67 in Horsham (2b 213).

Bakers of Headley states John’s fourth child, Maria, was baptized at Frensham on 6 September 1835. Nothing further is known of her at present.

Susan F Belsey has an entry for Maria Baker baptised 6 September 1835 at Frensham, parents John Baker and Mary Moorey.

Relationship

Maria Baker was my half first cousin three times removed.
