Christening of Stephen Baker in the IGI on 22 July 1832 in Frensham, Surrey, parents John and Mary Baker.

The same information is in Frensham Bishops Transcripts No 715 adding his father was a farmer.

In the 1841 census as Stephen Baker aged 9, born in Surrey, and living with John and Maria (parents?), John and Joseph (brothers?), Angelina, Ellen, Emily, Maria and Priscilla (sisters?) in Lower Churt, Farnham, Surrey.

In the 1851 census as Stephen Baker aged 18, born in Frensham, Surrey, an agricultural labourer, and living with his parents (John and Mary), three brothers (Albert, Joseph, and Seller), seven sisters (Clara, Ellen, Emley, Kate A, Maria, Matilda and Priscille), a visitor (Angelina Mary aged 19, and born in Richmond, Surrey) and a servant (George Glaysher aged 22, born in Headley, single and employed as an agricultural labourer) in Lower Churt, Frensham, Surrey.

In the 1861 census as Stephen Baker aged 28, born in Frensham, Surrey, single, no stated employment and living with his parents (John and Mary), four brothers (Albert, Joseph, Maurice and Selbe), and four sisters (Clare, Kate, Metilda and Prisille) in Churt, Frensham, Surrey.

In the 1871 census aas Stephen Baker aged 38, born in Frensham, Surrey, single, a farmer of 18 acres employing one woman, head of household, and living with his brother (Selby), and sister (Kate Anelia Batter) in Upper Churt, Frensham, Surrey. (This could be Outmoor from the 1881 census).

In the 1881 census as Stephen Baker aged 47, born in Frensham, Surrey, married, a farmer of 18 acres employing two men and a boy, and living at Netmoore (sic - in the index, Outmoor on the original), Frensham , Surrey. This is on Hale House Lane, Churt.

In the 1891 census as Stephen Baker aged 59, born in Churt, Surrey, married?, no stated employment and lodging with James Marghow (sic -Mayhew aged 49, born in Churt, Surrey, and a farmer), his wife (Sussanh Louisa aged 45 and born in Portsea) and two son (William Henry aged 14 and James Alfred aged 12, both born in Churt) at Green Cross Farm House, Churt, Frensham, Surrey.

In the 1901 census as Stephen Baker aged 62 (sic - on the original), born in Frensham, Surrey, widowed, an agricultural labourer, an agricultural labourer, and living in two rooms in Church Street, Sandwich, Kent.

In the 1911 census as Stephen Baker aged 77, born in Churt, Surrey and living in Eastry, Kent.

Death of Stephen Baker in FreeBMD in January-March 1915 aged 84 in Eastry (2a 1905).

Bakers of Headley states John’s third child, Stephen, was baptized at Frensham on 22 July 1832. In 1881 the census records him as married (but living alone?) at Netmoore in Frensham, a “farmer of 18 acres employing two men and one woman”.

Susan F Belsey has an entry for Stephen Baker, parents John Baker and Mary Moorey born in 1832, in Surrey and died in 1917.

Relationship

Stephen Baker was my half first cousin three times removed.
