All the children were born in Dundee, Angus, but only the last three have any record of their births.
On the entry of marriage dated 7 March 1865 number 345 for William Duncan Leslie and Ann Clemishaw in Knaresborough, John Leslie is stated to be his father and employed as a porter.
Copy of the entry in the Register of Deaths No. 1125 in 1865 in First District of Dundee gives the death of John Lesslie on 1 November 1865 at 5:30 am at 21 Queen Street Dundee. He was married to Margaret Donaldson and employed as a coal porter. His parents were David Lesslie, a weaver, deceased and Mary Lesslie, maiden name Baxter, also deceased. He died of asthma and heart decease certified for 2 years. The informant was George Leslie, his son, who was not present at the death which was registered on 1 November 1865 at Dundee.
On William Duncan Leslie's death certficate dated 14 January 1881, John Leslie is stated to be his father, employed as a coal merchant and deceased.
