Entry in Scotlands People for the christening of David Leslie, parents David Leslie and Agnes Spankie in Kettins on 22 February 1761. "Baptisms 1761 [...] David Leslie & Agmes Spankie in Muirside of Kettins had a Son baptized called David".
There is an entry in the IGI for the marriage of David Leslie and Mary Baxter on 30 November 1787 in Kettins, Angus, Scotland.
In Scotlands People it states: Kettins "David Leslie and Mary Baxter both in this parish proclaimed November 10, November 25, married November 30. December 11 1787 Examined from 10 October 1786 to First October 1787."
All the children were born in Kettins, the first two at Kirksteps and the rest at Peattie.
Copy of the entry in the Register of Deaths No. 1125 in 1865 for John Lesslie on 1 November 1865 it states his parents were David Lesslie, a weaver, deceased and Mary Lesslie, maiden name Baxter, also deceased.
Kay Gordon has an entry in RootsWeb WorldConnect for David Leslie born about 1765 in Scotland, married to Mary Baxter, and had a daughter Elizabeth Leslie in about 1806 in Kerriemuir.
Kettins is 1 mile SE of Coupar Angus which is 15 miles NW of Dundee, and is now in Perth and Kinross, the boundary between Perthshire and Angus changing in 1891. Peattie is about 2 miles south west of Kettins on the other side of the A923. Kirksteps is on the 1867 OS map just NE of the Mill of Peattie and less than a mile SE of Campmuir. Kerriemuir is 17 miles NE of Kettins.
