His parents were John Leslie, coal porter and Margaret Leslie M S Donaldson, both deceased. The witnesses were William Ritchie and Jessie Brown. It was registered on 4 January.

In entry 88 1914 of the Death Register of the District of St Andrew in the Burgh of Dundee John Leslie, married to Helen Duncan and Jessie Johnston, a calender worker died on 21 January 1914 aged 62 at 38 Blackscroft probably of acute gastritis (an inflammation of the lining of the stomach) and cardiac failure. Jessie Leslie a widow was the informant and made her mark. His parents were John Leslie, a coal porter and Margaret Leslie M S Donaldson, both deceased. It was registered on 22 January. (A calender worker was someone who worked on a machine which pressed material such as paper or cloth. The rollers that pressed the material were referred to as calenders - sometimes spelt calendar.)
Blackscroft is just north of East Dock Street A92 and east of East Marketgait A991, but all the buildings have been demolished.
