In the 1891 census as Elsie Sinclair aged 2 months, born in Margate, and living with her parents (William and Mary A M), and three sisters (Florence I, Louisa M and Gertrude) at 38 Pleasant Place, Margate, Kent.
Her mother died in 1896 and her father in 1899, both in Thanet, and she was put into an orphanage in Bristol in 1899.
In the 1901 census as Elsie Sinclair aged 10, born in Margate, and living with her uncle and aunt (Thomas W D and Sarah E Price) at The Street, Kennington, Kent.
In the 1911 census as Elsie Sinclair aged 20, born in Margate, Kent, single, and a servant living with Annie Ethel Day (aged 50, born in Harlow, Essex, single and of independent means) in seven rooms at 5 Connanght Road, Margate St John the Baptist, Kent.

On the marriage certificate "1913 Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of St James, Westgate in the County of Kent Number 245 December 15 1913 John Henry Charles Hollands aged 21, a bachelor and a gardener of Onslow Cottage, Garlinge, father Henry Hollands, labourer, and Elsie Sinclair aged 22, a spinster of 11 College Road, Margate, father William James Sinclair, Deceased [...] were married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns [...] in the presence of William John Ackhurst and Dorothy Kathleen Hollands."
From her husband's service record they were married on 25 December 1915 (sic), and had a son John Henry Thomas Hollands born 8 May 1914 at Albertina Cottage, Garlinge, Margate.
Her husband died in 1923 at Albertina Cottage, High Street, Garlinge.
In the 1939 England and Wales Register as Elsie Holland born 31 June (sic - in the index) 1891, widowed, and living with Margjorie E M Hollands (daughter?) and one other at 33 Leslie Avenue, Margate, Kent.
