In the 1871 census as Jane Barton aged 35 born in Brighton, Sussex, a hawker, and living with her husband (George), two sons (Andrew and George), and daughter (Jane) in Park Street, Horsham, Sussex.
I cannot locate the family in the 1881 census but her husband died in Eastbourne in 1883, and Jane appears to have remarried a ? Sutton who died before the 1891 census, but I cannot locate the marriage.
In the 1891 census as Jane Sutton aged 56, born in Brighton, Sussex, widowed, living on her own means, and living with her son? (Andrew Barton) in four rooms at 141 Barking Road, West Ham, Essex. However the relationships are confusing as his relationship is brother, Jane's is mother, and the head of the household is Charles W H Dickerson (aged 27, born in West Ham, Essex, and a dock clerk), and he is living in four rooms with his wife (Pricilla Dickerson aged 29 and born in Poplar, Middlesex whose maiden name is probably Town), and son (Chas Fred Wm Dickerson aged 2 and born in West Ham, Essex) and none of whom appear to have any relationship to Andrew Barton or Jane Sutton.
I cannot locate her in the 1901 census or any later information.
Jane Rowland was the wife of George Barton, great granduncle of Dennis Alfred Barton, my brother-in-law.
