In the 1841 census as James Roseland (sic - in the index, Rowland on the original) aged 45 (rounded down to a multiple of 5), born in Sussex, a labourer, and living with Ann Roseland (wife?), James Roseland (son?), Ann Roseland, Jane Roseland and Caroline Rowland (daughters?), and John Walger (aged 15 born in Sussex and a labourer) in Cavensham Place North, Brighthelmstone St Peter, Sussex.
