Birth of Andrew Barton in FreeBMD in April-June 1870 in Horsham (2b 290).
In the 1871 census as Andrew Barton aged 1, born in Horsham, Sussex, and living with his parents (George and Jane), brother (George) and sister (Jane) in Park Street, Horsham, Sussex.
I cannot locate the family in the 1881 census but his father died in Eastbourne in 1883, and his mother appears to have remarried a ? Sutton who died before the 1891 census. There is an entry for Andrew Barton aged 11 born in Dorking (original could be Worthing), a servant and chorister living with Pater Gallway aged 60, born in Killarney, single and a Catholic Priest at Farm St Church, five boarders, three lay brothers, three servants and choristers, a secretary, a page, a cook and an errand boy at 111 Mount Street, Mayfair St George, London. I cannot locate any other information re this Andrew. Other members of the family did have Dorking connections.
In the 1891 census as Andrew Barton aged 20, born in Horsham, Sussex, single, a sawyer and living with Jane Sutton at 141 Barking Road, West Ham, Essex. However the relationships are confusing as his relationship is brother, Jane's is mother, and the head of the household is Charles W H Dickerson (aged 27, born in West Ham, Essex, and a dock clerk), and he is living in four rooms with his wife (Pricilla Dickerson aged 29 and born in Poplar, Middlesex whose maiden name is probably Town), and son (Chas Fred Wm Dickerson aged 2 and born in West Ham, Essex) and none of which appear to have any relationship to Andrew Barton or Jane Sutton, but all appear to share four rooms.
