In the 1861 census as William Luff aged 17, born in Frensham, employed as an agricultural labourer and living with his parents (Edward and Harriett) and brother (Edward) at Shortfield Common, Frensham.

In the 1871 census as William Luff aged 51 in the index, 27 on the orginal, born in Surrey, employed as a potter, and living with his wife (Sarah), and three sons (Albert Lewis, Auther William and Earnest Lewis) at 50 Lower Thorn Street, St Lawrence, Reading, Berkshire. There is an Alfred Luft in the same census aged 3, born in Reading, Berkshire, and living with his grand parents (Edward and Harriett), uncle (Edward) and aunt (Elizabeth) at Shortfield Common, Frensham.

His daughter was born on 29 July 1879, registered in July-September 1879 in Farnham, and baptised on 26 October 1879 at St Mary the Virgin, Frensham when he was a potter living in Frensham.

In the 1881 census as William Luff aged 37 born Frensham, employed formerly as a potter, and living with his wife (Sarah), four sons (Ernest, Herbert, Levi, and Mark) and daughter (Rose) at Hillside, Frensham, Surrey.

"Burials in the Parish of Frensham in the County of Surrey in the Year One Thousand eight hundred and eighty two [...] William Luff No. 172 of Frensham April 8th 1882 aged 38". His son was born on the same day.

I am not sure who Alfred was, but believe he was Arthur William and there was some confusion over his name. Pitch Place was in Elstead, but Thursley church was much closer.

David Hornblow has an entry for William Luff born in 1844 in Elstead, Surrey, son of Edward Luff and Harriet Croucher, his marriage to Sarah Moore on 1867 in Reading, Berkshire, and his six children, and his death in 1882 in Farnham Hampshire.
