There is an Alfred Luft in the same census aged 3, born in Reading, Berkshire, and living with his grand parents (Edward and Harriett), uncle (Edward) and aunt (Elizabeth) at Shortfield Common, Frensham.
His daughter was born on 29 July 1879, registered in July-September 1879 in Farnham, and baptised on 26 October 1879 at St Mary the Virgin, Frensham when he was a potter living in Frensham.

I am not sure who Alfred was, but believe he was Arthur William and there was some confusion over his name. Pitch Place was in Elstead, but Thursley church was much closer.
