In the 1891 census as Margaret Auchincloss aged 54, born in Scotland, living on hier own means with her husband (Patrick A), three daughters (Elizabeth R, Ethel, and Patricia M, all single and living on their own means) and two servants (Jance C Amps aged 56, born in Kensington, London, single and a cook, and Alice Morley aged 19, born in Richmond, Surrey, single and a housemaid) at 4 The Terrace, Richmond, Surrey.

In the 1901 census as Margaret Wanchineloss (sic - in the index, correct on the orginal) aged 64, born in Glasgow, Scotland, and living on her own means with her husband (Patrick), two daughters (Elizabeth R and Ethel, both single), and four servants (Rose Raynor aged 34, born in Bloomsbury, London and a cook, Maud F Gull aged 24, born in Ardley, Essex and a waitress, Edith Stacy aged 21, born in Kensington, London, and a housemaid and Sarah Bowler aged 40, born in Fulmer, Buckinghamshire and a housemaid, all single) at 11 Prince of Wales Terrace, Kensington, London.
