Entry in The Singapore Free Press and Mercantile Advertiser (Weekly) 21 March 1923 "Old Singapore Resident Dead. There died at his residence 53 Rutland Gate, S.W., on Feb. 17th, Mr. Patrick William Auchincloss, aged 87. Mr Auchincloss joined the Borneo Co. when it was formed in 1857, and was a contemporary of Mr. H. W. Wood and Mr. S. Gilfillan. He became manager of the Singapore branch in 1860, but we have no record when he left, though he was here in 1863. We have a recollection that he was on the London management some thirty years ago."
