In the 1841 census as Richard Fox aged 9, born in Buckinghamshire, and living with George and Elizabeth Fox (parents?), Henry, James and John Fox (brothers?) and Ann Fox (sister?) in Denham, Buckinghamshire.

In the 1851 census as Richard Fase (sic - in the index, Fox on the original), aged 18, born in Denham, Buckinghamshire, single, a groom, and living with Sydney Smith (aged 42, born in Sheerness, Kent and a cabman), his wife (Susan aged 47 and born in St Andrews, Middlesex), a son (Sydney aged 19, born in London, Middlesex, single and a clerk to solicitor), and two other servants (Eliz Hodkisson aged 28, born in Olbury, Warwickshire, and single, and Sarah Matthews aged 17, born in Brighton, Sussex and single - his future wife) at 1 Clifton Terrace, Kensington Town, Middlesex.

"Page 216 [...] 1852 Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of St Luke Chelsea in the County of Middlesex. No. 432 Jany 11th Richard Fox aged 21, a Bachelor and Groom of 3 New Road, Chelsea, father George Fox, a Coachman, and Sarah Ann Matthews, a minor with consent and a Spinster of 3 New Road, Chelsea, father Charles Matthews, a Plasterer. Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns [...] in the Presence of us George Fox and Sarah Matthews".

His daughter was christened in Hammersmith in 1857 when he was a coachman living in Ravenscourt Square.

In the 1861 census as Richard Fox aged 28, born in Denham, Buckinghamshire, and living with his wife (Sarah), two sons (George and Richard), and three daughters (Caroline, Elizabeth and Emley) at 68 Granby Street, Waterloo Road, Lambeth, Surrey.

In the 1871 census as Richard Fox aged 38, born in Barham (sic - in the index, Denham on the original), Buckinghamshire, a cab proprietor, and living with his wife (Sarah), son (Geo), and four daughters (Caroline, Charlotte, Minnie A and Ruth) at 67 Aubin Street, Waterloo Road, Lambeth, Surrey (in the description it states this is the new name for Granby Street).

Death of Richard Fox in FreeBMD in January-March 1880 aged 48 in Lambeth (1d 287).

There are eleven entries in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Richard Fox born in Denham, Buckinghamshire in 1832 or 1833 (two give Barham), some give his parents as George Fox or George James Fox and Eliza Horton or Eliza Hill, his marriage to Sarah Ann Matthews on 11 January 1852 in Chelsea, Middlesex, various children and his death in Lambeth in 1880.

Relationship

Richard Fox was the father of Caroline Fox, wife of Alfred Luff, my half first cousin twice removed.
