A Henry Croucher and Henry Matthews were registered in January-March 1861 in Farnham, and a Matthew Henry Croucher was baptised on 10 March 1861, mother Clara Croucher a spinster of Churt. He changed his name to Henry Matthews before he was 20.
Clara Croucher and Harry Matthews were witnesses at the marriage of her brother John and Elizabeth Baker in Frensham in 1859.

According to my father's records Henry Matthews was living at Twyford Villa, Jumps Road in about 1908.
In the 1911 census as Clara Matthews aged 69, born in Churt, Surrey, married for 49 years with eight children, one having died, and living with her husband (Henry), son (Henry), two daughters (Clara and Edith) and a granddaughter (Rose - daughter of Alfred) in seven rooms at Twyford Villa, Churt, Surrey.
Her husband died at Twyford Villa, Churt and was buried at St John the Evangelist, Churt, on 20 December 1914.

Hale House dates to before 1572, and included a large amount of land dating back to the 13th century. It was owned by The Queens College, Oxford in the late 1600s. (P. Brooks Churt: A Medieval Landscape).
Clara Croucher was my great grandaunt. Her husband was the brother of the husband of her half-sister Elizabeth.
