Notes

Birth of Jane Hannah Corps in FreeBMD in April-June 1859 in Hambledon (2a 97) which included Witley.

Christening of Jane Anna Corpes in the IGI on 22 May 1859 in Milford, Surrey, parents William and Harriet Corpes.

In the 1861 census as Jane Corps aged 2, born in Witley, and living with her parents (William and Harriett), two brothers (Charles and Edward) at an illegible address (St Johns Bridge?) which I believe is near Wheelerstreet, Witley, Surrey.

In the 1871 census as Jane Coops (sic - in the index, correct on the original) aged 11, born in Witley, and living with her parents (William and Harriett), two brothers (Charles and Edward), and sister (Harriett) at Oxted Green (off A283), Milford, Surrey.

In the 1881 census as Jane Corpse (sic - on the original), aged 21, born in Witley, unmarried, employed as a servant and living with her married father (William), a cousin (George Waller (sic - in index, Vallor on the original) aged 2 and born in Witley - son of Harriett Annie) and a lodger (Thomas Bachin aged 29, born in Chiddingfold, unmarried and employed as a general labourer) at Lady Cross, Wetley (seic - in the index, correct on the original), Surrey. Her mother was acting as nurse to her daughter Harriett Annie Voller who was living next door. Lady Cross is near Mousehill.

Her mother died in 1887 and her father married Tryphena Luff nee Horsley in 1889.

Marriage of Jane Corps and Albert Luff in FreeBMD in January-March 1889 Hambledon (2a 192) - Albert Luff was Tryphena's son and the marriage must have been soon after her fathers.

In the 1891 census as Jane Corps (sic - in the index, correct on the original) aged 32 and born in Witley, married, and living with her son (Walter), her father (William Corps), (step)mother (Hy Js Irena (Tryphena)), brother-in-law (Alfred Luff), three sister-in-laws (Harvey and Marion Luff and Sarah Corps (sic - in the index, Luff on the original)), and half sister (Annie Corps) at Stoughton Road, (just north of the A3), Stoke next Guildford, Surrey. Her other son Albert was living with his aunt (Harriet A Voller) and family in Witley. I cannot find an entry for her husband who may have been abroad as he was in the army.

In the 1901 census as Jane H Luff aged 40, born in Witley, employed as a laundery woman, and living with her husband (Albert), a nephew (Albert Corpe - in the index, Corps on the original, aged 10 and born in St Andrews, Greater London), and a boarder (James Strudwick aged 43, born in Woking, Surrey, and employed as a sewerage labourer) in 4 rooms at Stoughton Road (just north of the A3), Stoke next Guildford, Surrey.
