In the 1881 census as James Westaway aged 16, born in Plymouth, Devon, a railway labourer, and living with his parents (William and Eliza), three brothers (Henry, Walter and William), brother-in-law (John Bolt) and nephew (William Bolt) in Chapel Street, Tiverton, Devon.
His daughter was born on 29 March 1885 in Claygate, Surrey but I cannot find a registration for her birth.
