There are two entries in FreeBMD for the birth of William Stubbs in October-December 1841 in Basford (15 441 and 413), both on the handwritten original and one of these may refer to him although they seem too early by 2 years. Although Basford did not include Lenton which was in Radford it was a very short distance to the north. Otherwise I can find no registration.
Entry in Ancestry Nottinghamshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, 1813-1922 for William Henry Stubbs baptised on 29 October 1843 at Lenton, Priory, Nottinghamshire, parents Edmund Horatio and Mary Anne Stubbs. I suspect this was at Holy Trinity as the Priory Church of St Anthony was largely dismantled in 1843/4, the font being transfered to Holy Trinity built in 1841-42. The book baptisms continues through this period with no break. "Page 127 Baptisms solemnized in the Oarish of Lenton in the County of Nottingham in the Year 1843 1843 Oct 29th No. 1,000 William Henry {parents] Edmund Horatio [a] [illegible] Hand & Mary Anne Stubbs [of] New Lenton.
His brother was registered in October-December 1848 in Runcorn and baptised on 17 December 1848 at Holy Trinity, Runcorn when they were living in Runcorn.
His sister was registered in October-December 1850 in Radford.
In the 1851 census as William Stubbs, aged 8, born in Lenton, Nottinghamshire, and living with his parents (Edmund and Mary Ann), two brothers (James and Walter) and two sisters (Caroline and Sarah Ann) at Sherwood Street, Radford, Nottinghamshire.
His brother was registered in July-September 1853 in Belper and baptised on 24 July 1853 at St Mary the Virgin, Wirksworth.
In the 1861 census as Willm H Stubbs, aged 18, born in Nottinghamshire, single, employed as an assistant teacher, and living with (servant in the index, teacher on the original) John A Moss (aged 66, born in Lincolnshire and employed as a teacher of the ragged), his wife (Mary, aged 49 and born in Holmfirth, Yorkshire), their daughter (Maria aged 5 and born in Salford), another teacher (Eliza M James aged 21 and born in Ireland), and a house servant (Susanna Hazelhurst aged 22 and born in Frodsham, Cheshire) at the Ragged School, Garden Lane (off Blackfriars Road A6041 possibly under the A6042)
His father died on 14 February 1871 in Little Horton, Bradford.
In the 1871 census as William Hy Stubbs aged 26, born in Lenton, Nottinghamshire, single, its not clear whether he was employed, and living with his three brothers (Horatio and his wife Elizabeth and three sons, William, Charles and Horatio), and James and Alfred (there is no head of the household), at 311 Horton Lane, Horton, Bradford, Yorkshire. This could be Great Horton Road (A647/A6177) to the SW of Bradford centre.
Marriage of William Henry Stubbs and Jane Pullen in FreeBMD in April-June 1872 in Bradford (9B 303) which included Cleckheaton. On a copy of Entry of Marriage Number 4 in 1872 in Bradford District, William Henry Stubbs aged 29, a bachelor and employed as a hatter married Jane Pullen at Bradford Registry Office by certificate on 5 May 1872. They were both living at 36 Hardy Street, Bowling. His father was Edmund Horatio Stubbs and both fathers were deceased. The marriage was witnessed by George Thomas and Robert Walter?
On a copy of the Entry of Death Number 168 in 1872 in Bowling, Bradford, Yorkshire of Mary Ann Stubbs on 21 June 1872 Wm Stubbs was the informant, was present at her death and was living at 36 Hardy Street, Bowling. Hardy Street is 100 yards SW of the intersection of the A650 and A647, 600 yards SSW of the centre of Bradford.
His son was born on born 20 March 1873 at New Road Side, Wike, registered in January-March 1873 in Bradford, and baptised on 19 April 1873 at Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Marsden.
His daughter was born on 4 July 1875, registered in July-September 1875 in Leeds, and baptised on 2 November 1876 at St Thomas Ardwick, Lancashire when he was a painter living at 2 Wainwright Street.
In 1881 census as Wm Henry Stubbs aged 38, born in Fenton (sic - on the original), Nottinghamshire, employed as a painter, and living with his wife (Jane), son (George Wm), daughter (Mary Jane), brother-in-law (George Bullen), sister-in-law (Hannah Bullen), and nephew (George H Bullen) at 98 Margaret Steet, Gorton, Lancashire.
Death of William Henry Stubbs in FreeBMD in January-March 1891 aged 48 in Chorlton (8C 583) which includes Gorton, and was renamed Manchester South in 1925. On a copy of the Entry of Death number 212 in Ardwick, Chorlton: William Henry Stubbs died on 18 March 1891 at 39 Ainsworth Street, West Gorton aged 48 tubercular pythisis (probably TB). He was employed as a house painter (journeyman). The informant was M J Stubbs on 19 March 1891, his daughter who was living at the same address and was present at his death.
On Marriage Certificate dated 29 October 1902 between George William Henry Stubbs and Florrie Belton it is stated that William Henry Stubbs was his father and was deceased.
