Birth of Grace Stubbs in FreeBMD in April-June 1909 in Prestwich (8D 323) which included Cheetham which was part of the parish of North Manchester.

Certificate of Birth number 368 of book 131 page 74 of the sub-district of Cheetham: birth of Grace Stubbs at 11 Shaw Street, Cheetham, North Manchester on 1 May 1909. Her father was George William Henry Stubbs, a carrier (master), and her mother was Forrie Stubbs formerly Belton who was the informant. The birth was registered on 10 June 1909.

In the 1911 census as Grace Stubbs aged 1, born in Manchester, Lancashire, and living with her parents (George and Florrie), brother (Reginald), sister (Eva) and a servant (Rose Maquire aged 17 and born in Manchester, Lancashire) in six rooms at 11 Shaw Street, Cheetham, North Manchester, Lancashire.

Her twin brother and sister were born on 10 November 1911 at 11 Shaw Street, Cheetham, Manchester and registered in October-December 1911 in Prestwich.

They lived near the centre of Manchester and she went to St Lukes School. The family moved to Blackpool when she was 9 and she went to the Blackpool Grammer School.

In the 1921 census as Grace Stubbs aged 12 years 1 month, born in Lancashire in 1909, both parents alive, and living with her parents (George and Florrie), two brothers (Norman and Reginald), two sisters (Eva and Ivy) and aunt (Lily Belton) in five rooms at 87 Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, Lancashire.

She had private lessons on the cello and played at the Regency Cinema accompanying silent films.

Marriage of Grace Stubbs and Joseph F Leslie in FreeBMD in April-June 1934 in Fylde (8E 1562).

On a copy of the entry of marriage number 36 in 1934 in the Flyde Grace Stubbs married Joseph Foster Leslie at the Whitegate Drive Baptist Church on 28 April 1934. She was aged 24, a spinster living at 37 Mere Road, Blackpool, and her father was George Stubbs, a removal expert. Her sister Eva Stubbs was a witness.

From newspaper advertisement for her wedding: Grace Stubbs daughter of Mr and Mrs G Stubbs, 37 Mere Road and Joseph F Leslie of Mr and Mrs W C Leslie Bermersyde, Bispham Road. Grace was a member of Blackpool Amateur Symphony Orchestra. The bridesmaid was Eva Stubbs (her sister).

In the 1939 England and Wales Register as Grace Leslie born 1 May 1909, married, and living with Joseph F Leslie (husband?) at 18 Poulton Old Road, Blackpool, Lancashire.

Her daughter was born on 4 April 1946 and registered in April-June 1946 in Blackpool.

Her son was born on 20 August 1947 and registered in July-August 1947 in Blackpool.

The following is taken from Meliora (the web site of the Blackpool Collegiate School for Girls): The musical life of the school was enriched in 1956 by the foundation of the orchestra. Instrumental classes for girls seeking admission to the orchestra began and Mrs. Leslie and Mrs. Kershaw started their magnificent string tuition.

Receipt for £187.55 paid for a Yorkshire Stone Tablet (for the grave in Carleton Cemetery) dated 7 March 1994 paid by Mrs Grace Leslie.

Lived all her married life at 18 Poulton Old Road, Blackpool which they had built by James Chadwick company when they married.

Entry in the Register of Deaths for Grace Leslie, born on 1 May 1909, in Blackpool and Fyde (C41C 5811C 46) in November 1995.

Buried at Carleton Cemetery, Blackpool in plot E 490 which was purchased by her mother-in-law for her heirs and assigns.
