[No.] 400 March 1st 1857 John Lane of full age, [a] Bachelor [and] Iron Bedstead Maker [of] South Hackney, [father] Joseph Lane] [a] Gardener, [and] Ann Sweetenham of full age, [a] Spinster [of] South Hackney, [father] Samuel Sweetenham [a] Weaver. Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns [he signed his name, she made her mark]"

In the 1861 census as John Lane aged 25, born Bethnal Green, Middlesex, a black smith, and living with his wife (Ann), and three daughters (Hannah A, Mary A and Minnie) at 36 North Street, Hackney, Middlesex (this address was shared with another family).

In the baptism of his daughter on 29 March 1868 at St Matthias, Bethnal Green he was a blacksmith living at 51 North Street, Cambridge Heath.
