On a copy of Entry of Death Number 160 in Billericay, Brentwood, Essex in 1946 it states that M A Cowles living at Tolangi, Church Road, Basildon was the informant of her mother's (Emma Louisa Alice Cowles) death on 1 July 1946.

She never married having been raped when young. She lived in Romford, Essex when I was very young (I stayed with her when my mother was ill), and later moved to Folkstone (where we went for summer holidays, and would tour south east Kent in her car), 25 Sparkeswood Avenue, Rolvenden (where we also went for holidays and later I cycled to in my early teens for several years), and Rolvenden Layne (a cottage at Frensham Manor for a short time, and then a semi in Maytham Road) after she retired, all in Kent. She lived with Aunt Marion (Marion Challis formely Davis, her first cousin) from the mid 1960's, and had a black poodle called Sammy.
