In the 1841 census as William Baker aged 4, born in Surrey and living with Thomas and Sarah (parents?), George, Richard and Thomas (bothers?), and Fanny and Hannah (sisters?) at Elstead, Surrey.

In the 1851 census as William Baker aged 16, born in Frensham, Surrey, employed as an assistant (grocer), and living with his brother Thomas, sister-in-law (Susan), nephew (Joseph), and a servant (Ann Watts aged 16 and born in Odiham) in the High Street, Odiham, Hampshire.
