In the 1851 census as James Dlolred (sic - in the index, original illegible) aged 27, born in Frensham, Surrey, a farmers labourer and living with his wife (Ann), nephew (William Bommer aged 10) and a lodger (George Anldred aged 22, born in Frensham, single and a farm labourer - I assume his brother) in Dockenfield, Surrey.
In the 1861 census as James Aldred aged 38, born in Frensham, Surrey, and an agricultural labourer and living with his wife (Ann) and nephew (William Bonner) in Dockenfield, Hampshire.
I cannot find an entry in the 1871 census (I suspect there are pages missing from Surrey Extra Parochial).
His wife died in 1874.
The father of James Ernest Punter and Mary Jane Punter is unknown, but I guess he was the father as they were born in Dockenfield and their mother was previously living in Farnham.
In the 1881 census as James Aldred (aged 57, born in Frensham), widowed, a farmer of 10 acres, and living with his nephew (William Boonner aged 30, born in Frensham, and three boarders (Jane Punter aged 45, born in Ewurst, Surrey, widowed, a housekeeper - and his future wife, James E. Punter aged 5 and Mary J. Punter aged 1, both born in Dockenfield, Hampshire) at Batts Corner, Dockenfield, Hampshire.
