Entry in the IGI for the christening of Joseph Stubbs on 11 November 1781 in Snelston, Derby, parents Wm and Sarah Stubbs.
There are four submitted entries in the IGI for the marriage of Joseph Stubbs on 17 March 1807 at St Marys, Nottingham. One gives no other information, the other three his wife as Harriott Reddish, and two his birth in about 1782 at Nottingham Saint Mary. There is an entry in the Nottinghamshire Registry of Marriages at St. Mary's, Nottingham 1566 to 1813 for Joseph Stubbs and Harriott Reddish on 17 March 1807.
In the 1841 census as Joseph Stubs aged 55 (rounded down to a multiple of 5), not born in Nottinghamshire, employed as a FWK (frame work knitter) and living with Charlottie Stubs (sic - on the original, was this Harriet or someone else?) and John (son?) in Radford, Nottinghamshire.
On a copy of Entry of Death Number 494 in 1845 in Basford, Nottingham for Harriet Stubbs it states her husband was Joseph Stubbs, a lacemaker. She died in New Basford. Note that a frame work knitter is not the same as a lacemaker - it is knitting stockings and gloves etc.
In the 1851 census as Joseph Stubbs aged 66, born in Snelland (sic - on the original), Derbyshire, widowed, employment given as FWK (frame work knitter), and living with his son (John) in Chapel Steet, Basford, Nottinghamshire.
In the 1861 census as Joseph Stubs aged 82, born in Ashbourn, Derbyshire, widowed, employed as a frame work knitter, and living on his own in Chapel Steet, Basford, Nottinghamshire.
Death of Joseph Stubbs in FreeBMD in October-December 1864 in Basford (7b 67). However the entry in FamilyHistoryOnline Nottinghamshire Burials for Joseph Stubbs gives his burial at Basford St Leodegarius on 16 October 1864 aged 87 putting his birth in 1777. This means he was 30 when he married while his wife was only 16. The birth date of 1781 seems more likely looking at the christenings of his syblings so I have assumed this.
Andrew & Nancy Peel`s Family Tree has an entry for Joseph Stubbs born 11 November 1781, married Harriet Reddish on 17 March 1807 and his death in 1864.
There are two entries for Joseph Stubbs in Ancestry Public Member Trees. Justine Jones has an entry for Joseph Stubbs born in 1780 in Derby, Derbyshire, but no parents, his wife Harriet Reddish, his nine children excluding Frances, and his death in 1864 aged 84. Andrew Peel has similar information giving his birth before on 11 November 1781 in Snelston, Derbyshire, his parents as William Stubbs and Sarah Cooper, his marriage on 17 March 1807 to Harriet Reddish at St Marys, Nottingham, his ten children, his occupation as a lace maker in 1845 and his death in 1864 aged 83.
Snelston is 4 miles SW of Ashbourne. Basford is 2 miles NW and Radford 1 mile NW of Nottingham.
