Her brother was born in Ilford in 1903, registered in July-September 1903 in Romford, but was baptised in Richmond on 27 September 1903.
Her father died on 10 July 1905 in Cambridge Drive, Ilford.
In the 1911 census as Doris Syms aged 9, born in Ilford, Essex, and living with her grandparents (Albert Baker and Mary Ann Dunce) in five rooms at 20 Crown Terrace, Richmond, Surrey. I cannot locate her mother but her brother was living with her uncle Maurice Baker in St Helier, Jersey.
