Notes

The christening is in the IGI.

Clara had a son Matthew Henry Croucher before her marriage according to the IGI, but no father is given. From the simularity of the name I assume it is his.

Clara Croucher and Harry Matthews were witnesses at the marriage of her brother John and Elizabeth Baker in Frensham in 1859.

In the 1881 census aged 43, born in Thursley, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living at Hale House Farm, Frensham (included Churt) with his wife, 4 sons and 2 daughters (but not Mathew Henry).

In the 1891 census aged 53, born in Churt (contradicts the 1881 census), employed as an agricultural labourer and living with his wife, two sons and a daughter at Squirrels Farm, Churt.

In the 1901 census aged 63, born in Churt (contradicts the 1881 census), employed as a farm baliff and living with his wife, and two children at Hale House, Churt.

He had moved to Twyford Villa, Jumps Road, by 1908 according to my father's records. Alfred Mathews was living at 1 Squirrels (next house to Hale House).
