In the 1881 census as James Luff aged 9, born in Sydenham, Kent and living with his parents (James and Mary), two brothers (Henry and Thomas), three sisters (Emily, Harriet and Maud) and a lodger (Elizabeth Buck aged 60, born in Shoreditch, Middlesex, widowed and no stated employment) at 6 Roland Grove, Sydenham, Kent.
I cannot find him in the 1891 census, but he was not living with his parents.

His son was registered in April-June 1898 in Lewisham and buried on 12 April 1898 in Lewisham.
In the 1901 census as James Labb (original is illegible) aged 29, born in Sydenham, single?, a soldier, and living with his parents (James and Mary), and two sisters (both named Mary) at 11 Union Grove, Sydenham, London. I cannot locate his wife, but in 1903 she was living in 51 Wickham Lane, Plumstead, London with Henry Howard Morrison.
In the 1911 census as James John Luff aged 39, born in Sydenham, Kent, married, a house painter and living with his parents (James and Mary) in five rooms at 16 Kemble Road, Forest Hill, Kent S E.

Donald Noel Barry has an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Winifred Mary (?Maud) Morrison born 9 January 1895, parents Henry Howard Morrison and Esther Florence Snelling. I cannot find any other information about her, but if her birth is correct she is more likely to be the daughter of James John Luff.
David Hornblow has an entry for James Luff born in 1872 in Sydenham, Kent, parents James Luff and Mary Lester.
James John Luff was my half second cousin once removed.
