In the 1891 census as Charlie Luff (sic - on the orginal)aged 3, born in Beckenham, Kent, and living with his parents (Charles and Eliza), three sisters (Annie, Eliza and Marion), and a lodger (Thomas Harrod aged 19, born in Norwood, Surrey, single and a builders labourer) at 25 Ravenscroft Road, Beckenham, Kent (off A214 Elmers End Road north of Birkbeck Station).

In the 1901 census as Charley Luff aged 13, born in Beckenham, Kent, and living with his parents (Charles and Eliza), and two sisters (Annie and Marian) at 99 Birkbeck Road, Beckenham, Kent (parallel to Ravenscroft Road).

In the 1911 census as Charlie Luff aged 23, born in Beckenham, Kent, single, a paper hanger employed by a builder, and living with his parents (Charles and Eliza) in eight rooms at 99 Birkbeck Road, Beckenham, Kent.

In the 1921 census as Charlie Luff aged 33 years 10 months, married, a painter at work employed by C Luff a decorator of 99 Birkbeck Road (father?) with one child under sixteen aged 5, and living with his son (Charles Frank) and widowed mother-in-law (Martha Mott) in four rooms at 97 Birkbeck Road, Beckenham, Kent. His wife was a patient in the South Eastern Hospital For Infectious Diseases, Avonley Road, New Cross SE14.

Entry in Ancestry England, Newspapers.comâ„¢ Stories and Events Index, 1800's to current for Charlie Luff on 28 June 1929 in Sevenoaks Chronicle, Westerham Courier and Kentish Advertiser. This and numerous other newspaper entries refer to Charlie Luff as a cricket batsman and also groundsman at Angel Ground Tonbridge (initially with a horse mower replaced by a motor mower in 1929 in this article) until 1939 scoring 151 in July 1929.

I cannot locate him or his son in the 1939 Register, but his wife was a housekeeper to George A McAfee, a retired plice chief inspector and head of household, both living with her widowed mother at 24 Avalon Road, Orpington, Kent.
