"Page 119 [...] 1866 Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of St George the Martyr, Southwark in the County of Surrey [No.] 238 May 6 John Lester [of] full age, [a] Bachelor [and] Plumber [of] Great Suffolk Street, Sydenham, Kent, [father] John Lester, [an] Engineer, [and] Ann Luff [of] full age, [a] Spinster [of] Great Suffolk Street, Sydenham, Kent, [father] Thomas Luff, [a] Cattle Dealer. Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after banns in the Presence of us James Luff and Sarah Luff."

His two daughters were born in Sydenham in 1867 and 1869, - he was stated to be a plumber in the christening of his second daughter at Witley, All Saints, Surrey.
