In the 1871 census as Alice Hobbs aged 7, born in Clerkenwell, Middlesex, and living with her parents (James and Hannah), five brothers (Arthur W, James E, Job, Samuel C and William G) and four sisters (Emily M, Emma E, Esther and Martha) at 13 White Conduit Street, Clerkenwell, London. Another family lived at the same address.

In the 1881 census as Alice Hobbs aged 17, born in Clerkenwell, and living with her parents (James and Hannah), two brothers (Arthur and Samuel), sister (Ada - born too late to be a sister and I cannot locate any information regarding her), and a lodger (John Stubbs - future husband) at 13 White Conduit Street, Clerkenwell, London. Two other families lived at the same address.

Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns [...] ".

Her daughter was born on 22 August 1887 in Walworth and registered in July-September 1887 in St Saviour.

Her son was born on 15 December 1889 in Walworth and registered in January-March 1890 in St Saviour just after it was transfered from Surrey to London.

In the 1891 census as Alice Stubbs aged 26, born in Clerkenwell, London, and living with her husband (John W), son (John P), daughter (Alice B) and brother-in-law (Percival Stubbs) in four rooms at 42 Olney Street, Newington St. Mary, London.

Her daughter was born on 22 May 1892 and registered in July-September 1892 in St Saviour.

All three children were baptised on on 2 February 1900 at St Barnabas, Rotherhithe when they were living at 79 Plough Road.

In the 1901 census as Alice Stubbs aged 33, born in Islington, London, and living with her husband (John), son (John P), two daughters (Beatrice A and Florence M) and a visitor (Jane Allen aged 72, born in Hinckley, Lancashire, widowed and no stated employment) in four rooms at 79 Plough Road, Rotherhithe. Another family was living at the same address although the house numbers skip 81 so the correct number may be 81.

Her son was born on 23 April 1906 and registered in April-June 1906 in St Olave.

In the 1911 census as Alice Stubbs aged 45, born in Islington, London, married for 24 years with four children all living, and living with her husband (John Warren), two sons (John Percy and Leslie Aubert) and two daughters (Alice Beatrice and Florence Minnie) in five rooms at 100a Rotherhithe New Road, London S E.

Her husband died at 48 Ilderton Road, South Bermondsey, Surrey on 28 May 1914 and left effects of £199 10s. to Alice Stubbs widow.

Entry in Stubbs Genealogy for "John Warren Stubbs [...] known to have married in the 4th quarter of 1886 to a woman named Alice. Later census records place her birth variously in Clerkenwell or Islington in the early or mid-1860s. Most probably she was the Alice Hobbs in whose father's household he had been lodging in 1881, in which case the GRO reference is [Marriage Index: Pancras 1b 160, 1886 (Dec)]. The 1891 Census finds him with Alice and three children living at 42, Olney Street in Newington St. Mary, London where he was occupied as a life assurance agent. Also in the household was his half-brother Percival. The 1901 Census finds the family living at 79, Plough Road in Rotherhithe where he was occupied as a ledger clerk. Also in the household was a visiting widow Jane Allen born around 1829 in Hinkley, Lancashire whose connection is unknown. John Warren died in the 2nd quarter of 1914 and his wife Alice died in the 1st quarter of 1951. His children by Alice (nee Hobbs?) Alice Beatrice (1) Stubbs - [Birth Index: St. Saviour 1d 163, 1887 (Sept)] , John Percy (1) Stubbs - [Birth Index: St. Saviour 1d 128, 1890 (March)], Florence Minnie (1) Stubbs - [Birth Index: St. Saviour 1d 105, 1892 (Sept)] and possibly others ...
