Bride-to-be "robbed of soul mate" as healthy partner, 37, dies of coronavirus. Lauren Brett has spoken out about the tragic loss of her fiancee Luke Dann, who died of Covid-19 despite him having only seen the doctor twice in the last 17 years. A bride-to-be whose "healthy" fiancee died aged 37 of Covid-19 has warned people not to be complacent as the virus "doesn't discriminate".
Lauren Brett said she has been "left to pick up the pieces from my once incredibly happy life" since her partner Luke Dann died on January 21.
She described how she had first contracted the virus in December and five days after showing symptoms, Luke started coughing.
"I'll get over it," he told her.
But the 3D modeller, animator and motion graphics artist, started having breathing difficulties soon after and was taken to hospital for treatment.
He spent two weeks in intensive care before he died.
Lauren told Grimsby Live: "I want to make people aware that Covid doesn't discriminate.
Luke was 37 years old, no health conditions and it took his life away - robbed me of my soul mate, the love of my life".

Soul mates ripped apart by Covid as perfectly healthy man, 37, dies of coronavirus.
"I'm now on my own, left to pick up the pieces from my once incredibly happy life with the man I was meant to grow old with."
A 37-year-old healthy man, who had only seen a doctor twice in the last 17 years, has died after contracting coronavirus.
Luke Dann had his whole life ahead of him, happily engaged to soul mate Lauren Brett who described their partnership as the perfect life, reports the Grimsby Telegraph.
But their world came crashing down when coronavirus hit the couple, firstly with Lauren and then Luke, who tragically died on Thursday, January 21.
Now, Lauren is urging everyone to take coronavirus seriously and that it can devastate families, including people with no underlying health conditions.

She told Grimsby Live : "I want to make people aware that Covid doesn't discriminate. Luke was 37-years-old, no health conditions and it took his life away - robbed me of my soul mate, the love of my life.
"I'm now on my own, thankfully with incredible support from my family and friends. But I'm left to pick up the pieces from my once, incredibly happy life with the man I was meant to grow old with."
Luke, who was born in London, moved to North East Lincolnshire as a teenager where he lived for a time in Grimsby with his mum.
He studied at the University of Lincoln where he first met Lauren.
She said: “Luke and I were the perfect match.
"We were inseparable, best friends with so much in common. We just had the best time together.
“Both being Disney fans we took so many trips to Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World.
"Luke even proposed to me in Disneyworld Florida. It was the most perfect moment of my life. Of course, I said yes! We had a house together and just were so immensely happy in our perfect life."
Luke, who was a 3D modeller, animator and motion graphics artist, had no major health conditions and barely ever suffered from colds, infections or any other illnesses.
But life was dealt a cruel blow when Lauren first tested positive for Coronavirus in December, followed by Luke.
“He even showed the nurses photos of me and told them I was the reason he needed to recover, why he needed to be brave."
On January 5 this year, Lauren received a phone call that she'd never forget.
She was told that Luke had to be intubated as he was struggling due to his oxygen levels falling dangerously low.

She said: "I'll never forget the phone call I received at 2.30 am in the morning, sobbing as I was told how calm Luke had been when being told he needed to be put on the ventilator.
"He didn't panic or lash out. He said ‘just do whatever it takes’ no doubt thinking of me as he fell asleep."
Over the next two weeks, Lauren and Luke's other close friends and family waited for updates each day.
At first, his condition was stable but over time, the phone calls from the doctors became more frequent and worrying.
Throughout the anguish of not being able to physically be with Luke during his fight added to the mental toll.
Lauren and her family sent in mementoes of the good times to be placed at his bedside.
In the early hours of Thursday, January 21, Luke lost his fight against coronavirus - two weeks and two days after being intubated.
Lauren said: "He was asleep, unaware and in no pain but me and my family were in incredible pain.
Just over two weeks of mental torture had come to an end with the worst resolution. But Luke suffered no longer.”
It is now believed that Luke had contracted Covid-19 a lot earlier than originally thought and by the time he had started to show symptoms, the virus had already embedded itself in his lungs.
Lauren wants to raise awareness that Covid-19 continues to be an unpredictable virus, and while it affects most people mildly, there are people like Luke who aren’t so lucky.
She said: “It pains me to see people not wearing masks, having house parties and even saying the virus is ‘just the flu’ or even a hoax.
“I feel like I need to use my experience and loss to try and raise some awareness.”
