In the 1851 census as William Croucher aged 2, born in Binsted, Hampshire, and living with his parents (William and Sarah Crouche (sic - on the original)), brother (Henry) and two sisters (Jane and Martha) in Binsted, Hampshire.

His sister was baptised on 2 January 1853 in Binsted, his father died in October-December 1854 in Binsted and his mother married William Simpson on 20 October 1860 in Binsted.

In the 1861 census as William Chrousker (sic - Chroucher on the original) aged 12, born in Binsted, Hampshire, an agricultural labourer, and living with his stepfather (William Simpson), mother (Sarah), sister (Harriett), stepfather's son (John) and a lodger (Henry Gruwell - more like Gruncle on the original) aged 17, born in Shalden, Hampshire, single and a cater) at South Hay Farm. Binsted, Hampshire.

"Page 98 The Year 1877 [...] No. 489 Banns of Marriage between William Croucher Harriett Grover both of this parish were publifhed on the Three Sundays underwritten; That is to fay, On Sunday the 11th Feb [...] On Sunday the 118th Feb [...] On Sunday the 25th Feb [...] married. 22 April. 1877".

In the 1901 census as William Croucher aged 52, born in Bowstead (sic), Hampshire, a furniture merchant and employer working from home, and living with his wife (Harriet), son (Rupert Cecil) and daughter (Hetty May) at 90 Victoria Road, Aldershot, Hampshire.

His wife died in Alton in 1902.

In the 1911 census as William Crowcher (sic - in the index, Croucher on the original) aged 62, female (sic - in the index, male on the original), born in Binsted, Hampshire, widowed, and a farm labourer out of work and living with his son (Cecil Rupert) both boarding with David Hare (aged 50, born in Bourne, Lincolnshire and a carter for the town council), and his wife (Emma aged 60, born in Willingham, Cambridgeshire, married for 20 years with no children) in four rooms at 2 Spring Gardens, Castle Street, Guildford, Surrey.

Entry in his son's (Rubert Albert Cecil Croucher) Army World War I Pension Record states his father was living at 5 Springfield Road, Guildford on 19 September 1914.

His daughter Hetty May married Henry James Jarrad on 30 October 1915 when her father was a traveller.
