Entry in Ancestry England & Wales, Civil Divorce Records, 1858-1918 for William Croucher and Mary Georgiana Croucher Wife's Petition 24 October 1887, Final Decree 27 April 1888 including custody of their two daughters Mary Grace Croucher and Mabel Croucher on the grounds of cruelty. There are 21 pages in all. They lived at 41 Surrey Square, Old Kent Road, Surrey, 56 Billington Street, New Cross Road, Surrey and at 93 Evelina Road, Peckham, Surrey. There were five children, only two of which were still living, Mary Grace born 3 July 1879 and Mabel born 4 December 1885. His wife alleged assault within a few days of their marriage, again on 2 July 1879 and on the following day she gave birth to twins, one of whom was stillborn, in August 1884 when they were living at 93 Eveline Road, Peckham she fled the house as he threatened to kill her, more assaults on 2 and 14 October 1887 following which she went to live with her father. He denied the assaults but her version was accepted.
