His brother Leonard was born at Alfred Cottages, Napier Road, Gillingham on 17 Sep 1887, Frank at Blacksod Bay, Bellmullet, County Mayo, Ireland on 15 February 1890, and Sidney in Southsea in 3 September 1891 and confirmed Melcombe Regis, Dorset in 1911.

I cannot locate him in the 1891 census when I assume he was living in Ireland as his father died in County Mayo in 1891.

In the 1901 census as Allen S Croncher (sic - in the index, Allan J Croucher on the original) aged 16, born in Clapham, London, a printer's apprentice, and living with his mother (Emily J Croncher) in four rooms at 23 Mary's Street, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Parochial Obituary [...] During the past month there has also passed away one with whose face we were familar in Bere Regis. Alban Thomas Joseph Croucher, who diedon September 7th, at the comparatively early age of 32 years, had for some years past been in the service of Mr. and Mrs. Forsyth, Culeage, to whom he acted in the capactiy of chauffeur. Although he had been in ill health for some time past and was marked "medically unfit" for the army, his end was somewhat sudden. He leaves behind him a young widow and child for whom much sympathy is felt. Those who knew him best describe him as "cheerful, respectfulful and obliging" - a very good character for anyone to possess, and by which he will be sorely missed.
