I cannot locate the family in the 1851 census.
In the 1861 census as Ann Cowles aged 12, born in Catton, Norfolk, and living with her parents (Stephen and Esther), three brothers (Charles, Edward and Henry), and two sisters (Ellen and Emma) in Factory Lane, Lowestoft, Sussex.
Her father died in 1869.
In the 1871 census as Ann Cowles aged 22, born in Calton (sic - on the original), Norfolk, single, no stated employment, and living with her widowed mother (Esther), four brothers (Charles, Edward, Henry and John) and four sisters (Alice, Ellen, Emma, Harriet and Lucy) at 22 Factory Lane, Lowestoft, Suffolk.

There is an entry in Ancestry Public Member Member Trees for Ann Eliza Cowles born in Colton (sic), Norfolk in 1849 married David Lake and a daughter (Alice Esther), and a second for Ann E Lake married David Lake, and three children (Alice E, Charles A and Herbert Francis, and a second marriage with two children (Ernest E and Charles O).
Kirkley is just south of Lowestoft and became part of Lowestoft on 1 April 1907.
Ann Eliza Cowles was my second cousin once removed.
