In the 1841 census as Hester Clarke aged 15, born in Norfolk, and a female servant living with William Beart (aged 40, not born in Norfolk, and a yard ?), and Maria Beart (wife? aged 40, born in Norfolk and a female servant) in Dunberry Hills, Gledeston, Norfolk.
I cannot locate the family in the 1851 census or find an entry for her marriage - in the entry for the baptism of Henry her former name is given as Clarke.
The family moved from Catton to Lowestoft between 1852 and 1854 from the births of her children.
In the 1861 census as Esther Cowles aged 33, born in Denton, Suffolk, and living with her husband (Stephen), three sons (Charles, Edward and Henry), and three daughters (Ann, Ellen and Emma) in Factory Lane, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Her husband died in Lowestoft in 1869.
In the 1871 census as Esther Cowles aged 43, born in Denton, Suffolk, widowed, a cow keeper, and living with her four sons (Charles, Edward, Henry and John) and six daughters (Alice, Ann, Ellen, Emma, Harriet and Lucy) at 22 Factory Lane, Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Note that Denton is on the southern edge of Norfolk. although several entries place it in Suffolk.
Esther Clarke was the wife of Stephen Cowles, my first cousin twice removed.
