In the 1841 census as Mary Bakes (sic - in the index, Baker on the original) aged 2, born in Surrey and living with Sarah Keese (sic - in the index, Keene on the original - great grandmother?) aged 80, not born in Surrey, of independent means, and living with James Bakes (uncle?), George Hammons (aged 14, born in Surrey and a male servant) and Fredrick Smith (aged 12, born in Surrey and a male servant), and living separately but in the same house as her parents and rest of the family at Upper West End, Frensham, Surrey.
I cannot locate her in the 1851 census, but she was not living with her parents.
In the 1861 census as Mary Baker aged 23, born in Frenchham (sic), Surrey, and living with her parents (Richard and Eliza), five brothers (Frederick, James, John, Richard and William), sister (Jane) and cousin (Mary Ann Baker) in in Chinthurst Lane, Shalford, Surrey.

Her first daughter was born on 8 October 1863 and baptised on 22 November 1863 at Bramley Holy Trinity, Surrey, her second daughter was born on 4 January 1867 and baptised on 21 July at Brighton Annunciation All Souls when they were living at 95 Coleman Street, and her third daughter was baptised on 7 February 1869 in Rottingdean.
In the 1871 census as Mary Mitchell aged 32, born in Frensham, Surrey, and living with her husband (Charles) and four daughters (Bessie J, Matha K, Mary E and Rosa A) in Balsdean, Rottingdean, Sussex.
Her husband was buried in Patcham on 29 December 1873.
Her son was baptised on 11 January 1874 in Patcham.
