Entry in Ancestry England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 for Hori Adams baptised on 25 March 1791 in Selborne, Hampshire, parents James and Mary Adams.

I cannot find an entry for his first son born circa 1813 in Alton. Three daughters and a son were christened in Headley from 1816 to 1822, his occupation was a tailor, his wife's name was Jane Ann/Anne, and they were living in Standford in the first two entries and Lindford in the second two. His wife died in Lindford and was buried on 6 February 1822 just before the christening of the last daughter on 21 February. I cannot find an entry for the marriage or find her maiden name.

"Page 40 [...] Hori Adams of this Parifh Widower, and Elizabeth Wilson of this Parifh Spinster were married in this Church by Banns with Confeent of [blank] this Sixteenth Day of October in the Year One thoufand eight hundred and twenty nine [...] No. 119".

His seven children were born in Camberwell from 1830 to 1842.

In the 1841 census as Hani (sic - Hori on the original) Adams aged 50, not born in Surrey, a taylor, and living with Elizabeth (wife?), George and William (sons?) and Charlotte, Eliza and Hannah (daughters?) in Paradise Street, Peckham, Camberwell, Surrey.

In the 1851 census as Hon (sic - in the index, Hori on the orginal) Adams aged 60, born in Hampshire, a tailor, and living with his wife (Elizabeth), two sons (George and Richard) and three daughters (Charlotte, Eliza and Hannah) at 1 Adelaide Place, Peckham, Camberwell.

Hori Adams.

I am a tailor; I live in the Milton-ground at Peckham.On 25th August, I was in the garden—I saw the policeman take two boys, and lead them along the side of the bank—I saw Kimber come away from the barge, and rescue the two boys from him—I saw him struggling with the policeman, and saw them go down, I did not notice how many times, I thought not above four or five—at the second fall that they had, I saw Kimber was undermost—and he kicked at the officer's head, but his head was down, and the kicks went behind his pole—he kicked at him three or four times—they struggled and got down again—they struggled three or four times before they got to the corner of my garden, and there they fell down very heavily on the footpath, and the constable was undermost—I saw Kimber get up and run away—Pike came up just at the time Kimber ran away—I believe there were some words between the officer and Pike, but there were so many people crowding round, and talking, that I could not hear what they said—Pike came up and prevented the constable going after Kimber—I saw Pike pull his left arm out of his jacket.

Kimber. Q. Did you see me kick his head? A. No; but you kicked at his head.

JURY. Q. You say you saw the constable with two boys; how did you know he was a constable? A. I did not know it then.

Cross-examined. Q. When you saw Pike with his arm out of his jacket, was he coming from his own brick barge? A. Yes; he was taking off his jacket to fight, I understood.

In the 1861 census as Horace (sic - in the index, changed from Horace to Hori on the original) Adams aged 71, born in Hampshire, a tailor, and living with his wife (Elizth) and son (Richard) at 3 Adelaide Place, Peckham, Camberwell.
