There are two entries in the IGI for the christening of Eliza Adams in Farnham, Surrey, parents William and Hannah Adams, one on 21 October 1838 and the other on 24 October 1838.

"Baptisms solemnized in the Parish of Farnham in the County of Surrey in the Year 1838 [...] Oct 24th No 2277 Eliza parents William, a shoe maker, and Hannah Adams of Hungry Hill".

Her sister was also born at Hungry Hill in 1840.

In the 1841 census as Eliza Adams aged 2, born in Surrey and living with William and Hannah (parents?), George (brother?), Sarah (sister?), William and Ruth Vindon (grandparents?) and Richard Vindon (uncle?) at Hungry Hill, Farnham, Surrey. Another family was living at the same address.

Her two sisters was born in Hale in 1844 and 1846, and third in St George the Martyr in 1849.

In the 1851 census as Eliza Adams aged 14, born in Farnham, Surrey, and living with her parents (William and Hannah), brother (George), and four sisters (Elizabeth, Emma, Jane and Sarah) at 2 Bedford Court, St George the Martyr, Middlesex. Four other families lived at this address. The ages of Eliza and George appear to have been the wrong way round.

I cannot find the family in the 1861 census.

Her daughter was born in 1863 when they were living at Bedford Court, Bloomsbury St George.

In the 1871 census as Eliza Penson aged 32, born in Farnham, Surrey and living with her husband (John), and two daughters (Catherine and Jane) at 2 Bidboro(ugh)Steet, Gray, St Pancras. Two other families lived at this address.

Her son was born at 14 Bidborough Street, Grays Inn Lane, St Pancras in 1874.

In the 1901 census as Eliza Penson aged 62, born in Farnham, Surrey, and living with her husband (John), and two sons (Edward and Frederick (adopted on the original)) in two rooms at 36 Hastings Street, Grays Inn Lane, St Pancras, London. Three other families were living at the same address.

In the 1911 census as Eliza Penson aged 72, born in Ham (sic - in the index, Farnham on the original), Surrey, married for 52 years, and living with her husband (John), and adopted son (Frederick Gant) in two rooms at 36 Hastings Street, London W C.

Her husband died in St Pancras latter in 1911.

Eliza Adams was the second cousin once removed of Mary Ann Carpenter Adams, wife of Edward Fullick, my first cousin four times removed.
