There is an entry in the Ancestral File for the birth of Amos Adams in about 1824 in Redenhall, Suffolk (sic), and his marriage to Elizabeth Castell at St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth on 12 October 1845.
In the 1841 census as Amos Adams aged 20 (rounded dowwn to a multiple of 5), born in Norfolk, employed as an agricultural labourer and living with John and Ann (parents?), Enoch (brother?) and Emily, Hagar, Maria and Mary (sisters?) at Shotesham St Mary and St Martin, Norfolk.
Marriage of Amos Adams and Elizabeth Castell in FreeBMD in October-December 1845 in Yarmouth (13 945).
Marriage of Amos Adams and Elizabeth Castell in the IGI on 12 October 1845 at St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. There is a submitted entry with the same information.
In the 1851 census as Amos Adams aged 29, born in Shotesham, Norfolk, employed as a miller journeyman and living with his wife (Elizabeth), son (Amos S), and two daughters (Alice S and Ellen E) at The Street, Shotesham All Saints, Norfolk. Emily Cowell (sic - Cowles) who I guess was his cousin was living next door with her husband. (A journeyman was a paid employee who had completed an apprenticeship).
In the 1861 census as Ames (sic) Adams, aged 39, born in Shotesham, employed as a miller, and living with his wife (Elizabeth), and three sons (Alfred J, Ames, and George) at Hellesdon, Norwich Norfolk.
I assume his wife died after this census and there is an entry in FreeBMD for the marriage of Amos Adams and Phoebe Ward in July-September 1866 in Norwich (4b 263).
In the 1871 census as Amos Adams aged 44 (about 5 years too young), born in Shottesham, employed as a carpenter, and living with his wife (Phoebe) and two sons (Alfred John and William) in Adelaide Street, Heigham, Norfolk. (Adelaide St is off the A1074 1 mile NW of Norwich).
There is an entry in FreeBMD for the death of Ames (which could be Amos on the original typed entry) Adams in October-December 1880 aged 55 in Norwich (4b 117) but the age is 5 years too young although it matches the 1871 census.
Gordon Smith has an entry in RootsWeb WorldConnect for the marriage of Amos Adams to Elizabeth Castell at St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth on 12 October 1845. There is also an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees with the same information.
Hellesdon is 3 miles NW of Norwich.
Amos Adams was my first cousin three times removed.
