In the 1841 census as John Waner (sic - in the index, Warren on the original) aged 35 (rounded down to a multiple of 5), a schoolmaster, and living with Jane (wife?), John (son?), Mary and Elizabeth (daughters?) in Fore Street, Bradninch, Devon. Ann Warren (a pauper aged 70 was living next door) and then Peter Warren (brother?).
In the 1851 census as John Warren aged 46, born in Bradninch, Devon, a national schoolmaster, and living with his wife (Jane), son (Walter C) and daughter (Elizabeth C) in Fore Street, Bradninch, Devon. His brother? Peter was living next door.
In the 1861 census as John Warren aged 56, born in Bradninch, Devon, a parish clerk, and living with his wife (Jane), and a lodger (Samuel White aged 74, born in Whimple, Devon, widowed, and formerly a carpenter) in Fore Street, Bradninch, Devon. His brother? Peter was living four doors away.
His wife died in 1868.

"Warren John Effects under £100 28 September. The Will of John Warren late of Bradninch in the County of Devon Parish Clerk who died 20 September 1872 at Bradninch was proved at Exeter by Walter Charles Warren of Bradninch Grocer the Son the sole Executor.
There are some ten entries in Ancestry Public Member Trees for John Warren, but they mix up two families - John Warren born in Bradninch and married to Jane Copp Hake and John Warren born in St Cyrus Newton and married to Jane Layman. In particular Charity and Emma Warren were not the daughters of this John Warren. One entry gives the marriage on 24 September 1827, witnesses Elizabeth Copp, Henry Vincent, John Vincent, Elizabeth and Peter Warren.
John Warren was the father of Mary Elizabeth Warren, wife of John Stubbs, Felicity's second great grand uncle.
