In the 1841 census as William Utterson aged 17, born in Berwickshire, and living with James and Elizabeth (parents?), David, James, John and Peter (brothers?), and Agnes, Catherine, Elizabeth and Helen (sisters?) at Greenfield, Fouldon Deans, Berwick.
I cannot locate an entry for his marriage - the date and place are from Janet's registration of birth "1847 July 25th Paxton Toll Gate Parish of Hutton".
In the 1851 census as William Utterson aged 23, born in Hutton, Berwickshire, an agricultural labourer, and living with his wife (Janet), son (James), daughter (Jane) and a servant (George Patterson aged 17, born in Coldingham, Berwickshire, and an agricultural labourer) at Greenfield Fouldon, Berwickshire.
In the 1861 census as William Etterson (sic) aged 33, born in Hutton, Berwickshire, and living with his wife (Jessie), four sons (John, James, Thomas, and William) and daughter Elizabeth) at 3 Starch House. Mordington, Berwickshire.
Entry in the Register of Deaths for William Utterson, mother's maiden name Bairnsfather, in 1864 in Canongate (685/3 1163). Much of the original is illegible. "Page 388 1864 Deaths in the District of Canongate in the Burgh of Edinburgh [...] [No.] 1163 William Utterson ? Labourer? Married to Jessie Dickson 1864 November Second [time illegible] [at] Royal Infirmary Edinburgh Usual Residence Mordington [aged] 30 Years [parents] James Utterson Farm Servant [and] Elizabeth Utterson M.S. Bairnsfather [cause] ? of Lower Jaw 18 months [rest illegible] [informant] Jessie Utterson Widow [on] 1864 November 5th at Edinburgh".
