Next of kin Mary Ann Shipp, formerly Baker, married on 8 August 1907 in Hoddesdon Hertfordshire, no children. He embarked in Southampton on 3 March 1917 and disembarked in Alexandria on 16 March 1917. He was admitted to hospital in Palestine on 17 August 1918, rejoining his unit on 24 August 1918. He had a medical examination in Alexandria on 18 February 1919. Dispersed at Wimbledon 15 March 1919. A card acknowleding receipt of Victory and War Medals dated 14 September 1921 states he was a gunman in unit 195 H.B.
