I cannot locate him in the 1881 census but he was not living with his parents who were living at 56 Blackthorn Street, St Leonard Bromley.
In the 1891 census as Frederich (sic - in the index, Frederick on the original) Salmon (sic - on the original) aged 14, born in Bow Common, London, a bill boy at port, and living with his parents (David and Sarah J), brother (Arthur) and half-sister (Hannah E Scoble) in three rooms at 15 Maverton Road, Stratford le Bow St Mary, London. Two other families lived at the same address.
