His daughters were baptised on 29 April 1896 when he was a packer living at 162 Trafalger Street, and on 22 March 1901 when he was a packer living at 49 Inville Road, both at St George Camberwell.

In the 1901 census as Edward Pynes (sic- on the original) aged 39, born in St Luke, London, a packer of chemical scientific apparatus, and living with his wife (Annie E), son (Albert E) and six daughters (Alice E, Charlotte A, Eliza E, Ellen E, Emily, and Ethel E) in three rooms at 49 Inville Road, St Peter Walworth, Newington, London. Another family shared the same address.
