I cannot find an entry in the 1881 census.

In the 1891 census as Friend Pain aged 39, born in Brighton, employed as a labourer and living with his wife (Mary A) and son (Frederick R) at 25 Denmark Street, Willesdon, Middlesex. (His parents were at 48 Denmark Street in the 1871 census.)
I cannot find any later information.
Friend Paine was my eighth cousin three times removed.
