In the 1881 census as Frederick T Paine aged 31, born in Brighton, employed as a carpenter's labourer, and living with his widowed mother (Emma Mator (Slator)) and sister (Annie) at 1 Sussex Street, St Peter, Brighton.(another family lived at the same address).
