Amy New was a witmess at the marriage of John Frederic Wilkins and Kate Luff on 24 December 1884 at St James, Elstead.

In the 1891 census as Amy Amelia New aged 19, born in Witley, single, employed as a school teacher, and living with her parents (John Charles and Mary) in Wheeler Street, Witley, Surrey - two single men are living separately, each in two rooms at the same address, the next property is the Inn.

In the 1901 census as Amy A New aged 29, born in Witley, single, employed as an assistant mistress at a boarding school in West Ham, and boarding with Edward Clark (aged 46, born in Bloomsbury, London and employed as an engineer & mould maker), his wife (Gane aged 46, and born in Boughton, Kent) and another boarder (Florence Lester - her first cousin) at 55 Vaughan Road, Stratford, West Ham, Essex.

Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns [...] in the Presence of us Florence Annie Lester and Charles James ?".

Her daughter was born in Forest Gate in 1910.

In the 1911 census as Amy Amelia New aged 39, born in Witley, Surrey, married for 2 years with one child still living, and living with her husband (Robert Philip William Rotherham ), daughter (Joan) and a servant (Margaret O'Connor aged 20, born in Barking, Essex, and single) in seven rooms at 137 Claremont Road, Forest Gate E, Essex.

Her widowed mother died at 137 Claremont Road in 1918 so I assume she was living with Amy after the death of her husband in 1916.

In the 1939 England and Wales Register as Amy A Rotherham born 1 July 1871, married, incapacitated, and living with Robert Rotherham (husband?), and Amy E Woollard (housekeeper) at 137 Claremont Road, East Ham, Essex.

Her husband died on 22 April 1941 at 137 Claremont Road, Forest Gate.

Death of Amy A Rotherham in FreeBMD in April-June 1941 aged 69 in E Ham (4a 143).
